Driver Age Requirements

Minimum age 21 for car categories: A, B, L, S
-
Minimum age 23 for car categories: C, C1, D, D1, D2, L1, L2, K, K1, K2, K3, S1

Minimum age 25 for car categories: S2, S3, S4, E, E1, F
Important: If you do not meet the required age at the rental counter, you will not be allowed to pick up the car and the full rental fee will still apply.
Driver’s License Requirements

You must have held a valid driver’s license for at least 1 year.

Accepted licenses:
National licenses from EU, US, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Israel, Russia, and Ukraine. -
For all other countries, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.
Minimum Rental Period
-
The minimum rental duration is 24 hours.
-
Rental time starts at pickup and runs in 24-hour cycles.
-
Grace period: Up to 1 hour late for drop-off = no charge
Delay of 1–3 hours = €10/hour
Over 3 hours = Charged as one full rental day
Rental Extensions

To extend your rental, you must contact our office to check availability.
-
If the car is already booked, extension requests may be denied.
Modifying a Reservation

You can request a change through our online form at any time.
-
We will confirm within a few hours if the modification is possible.
-
If the change affects the total rental cost, your prepayment remains the same, but the new rate may be higher based on availability and timing.
Delivery Information – Important!
Please provide the following at the time of booking or at least 3 days in advance:

Airport pickup: Flight number & arrival time
-
Port pickup: Ferry name & arrival time
-
Hotel delivery: Hotel name, address, and phone number (if available)
If this info is not provided on time, Aegean-rentals.com cannot guarantee the rental or offer any compensation for failed pickups.
Out-of-Hour Charges

Car pick-up outside normal working hours may be possible at most locations.
-
An extra fee may apply for this service.

If your pickup is delayed (e.g., due to a late flight), inform us as soon as possible and we will rearrange your pick-up time without an extra cost.
Drop off at our Airport offices in out off hours operations are free of charge.(Under request)
Traffic Fines & Violations

The renter is fully responsible for any traffic tickets or legal violations during the rental period, including all related administrative fees.
Geographical Limitations
-
Driving outside Crete is strictly prohibited.
-
If the car is taken off the island, all insurance coverage becomes void, and the customer is fully responsible for any accidents or damages.
Vehicle Type & Booking Policy

Car Category, Not Specific Model:
While we do our best to provide the car type you request, we cannot guarantee a specific make, model, or fuel type. All bookings are based on vehicle category, not individual models. The cars shown on our website are examples representing the size and features of each category. -
Upgrade Option:
If your selected car category is unavailable at pickup, Aegean-rentals.com may provide a vehicle from a higher category at no extra cost.
Key Loss or Lockout

If the vehicle key is lost, damaged, or locked inside the car, the customer is fully responsible for:

The replacement cost of the key

Any retrieval costs involved in accessing the locked vehicle

Tyre Damage
-
Non-repairable or burst tyres are not covered by insurance, and the customer is liable for replacement.

If the tyre is repairable:
-
The customer may repair it
-
The company will refund the cost upon receiving a valid receipt

Fuel Policy
-
Fuel is not included in the rental price.
-
The fuel policy is “same-to-same”:
-
Return the car with the same fuel level as when you received it
-
Passenger Capacity
-
Please check the vehicle specifications when booking online.

Aegean-rentals.com is not responsible if:
-
The vehicle is too small for the number of passengers or amount of luggage
Eligibility to Rent

We reserve the right to refuse vehicle rental if a customer appears unfit to drive or does not meet the rental requirements.
Problems With the Car?

If you’re not satisfied with your vehicle, you must contact Aegean-rentals.com immediately.
Any issues must be handled locally — failing to report them promptly could result in your claim being denied.
Cancellation Policy for Confirmed Orders

How to Cancel:
All cancellations must be made using the cancellation link provided in your confirmation email or by phone. -
Cancellations Made More Than 7 Days in Advance (over 168 hours):
You will receive a full refund of your down payment. No extra charges apply. -
Cancellations Made Within 7 Days of Rental Start (168 hours or less):
Your down payment will not be refunded. -
After the Rental Period Has Started:
Cancellations or changes must be handled directly by Aegean-rentals.com at your rental location. -
No Refunds Will Be Given For:

No-shows (not arriving at the rental location)

Missing required documents
-
Early returns
-
Cancellations after the rental has started

Refunds for unused rental days are generally not provided, but Aegean-rentals.com may make exceptions at their discretion.
Insurance Coverage & Damage Responsibility
All insurance coverage and damage waivers are valid only if the renter follows all rental terms and conditions.
In Case of Damage or Accident
-
The renter is responsible for checking the vehicle and must immediately report any damage to our office or the police — before moving the car.
-
You must provide all relevant details and photos for the incident report.
-
If you fail to report the damage within 2 hours, you will be considered responsible and must cover the full repair cost.
-
No reports made at vehicle return (without earlier notice) will be accepted.
When the Renter is Liable for Damages (No Insurance Coverage Applies)
The renter may be held financially responsible for the full cost of repairs in the following cases:

Driving on prohibited roads:
Unpaved, non-asphalt, off-road, or restricted areas (e.g., Balos) — even unintentionally. -
Traffic violations:
Ignoring road signs, stop signs, speed limits, illegal U-turns, or overtaking on double lines. -
Driver error or distraction:
Accidents caused by misjudging the road or veering off-course. -
Illegal parking:
Damages resulting from parking violations. -
Misuse of vehicle:
Using the car in races, rallies, or competitions, or for paid services (e.g., taxi/courier). -
Unauthorized drivers:
If the car is driven by someone not listed on the rental agreement or without a valid driver’s license. -
Driving under the influence:
Accidents caused while under the effect of alcohol or drugs. -
Reckless use or neglect:

Damages caused (e.g., slamming doors)

Clutch or gearbox damage due to misuse

Interior damage or damage by animals
-
Sitting/standing on the roof, hood, or trunk of the car
